I am an Assistant Professor of Accounting at the University of Texas at Austin, McCombs School of Business. I received my  Accounting PhD from the Fuqua School of Business at Duke University.

My research focuses on M&A, mandated disclosure, and SEC regulation. I teach intermediate financial accounting, with an emphasis on incorporating both my prior professional experience and research into the classroom. For example, my dissertation focused on M&A related Article 11 Pro Forma Financial statements. In my intermediate accounting class, we use AT&T Pro Formas related to the DIRECTV acquisition to predict future revenues, expenses, and EPS. Moreover, we use the Pro Formas to understand how the initial purchase price allocation, and any future measurement period adjustments (the topic of a my paper in Journal of Financial Reporting) affect future earnings.

Prior to academia, I was a 3rd year manager in PwC’s Capital Market and Accounting Advisory Services group.  In this role I assisted companies with complex capital market transactions including IPOs, divestitures, acquisitions, and debt offerings.  I also provided technical accounting assistance related debt and equity financing, embedded derivative analysis, business combinations, stock compensation, revenue recognition, loan accounting, and US GAAP to IFRS conversions. Prior to joining PwC, I did a one year rotation as a post-graduate technical assistant at the FASB, primarily focusing on Accounting for Financial Instruments.
